This story was a part of my solo semi-backpacking trip Yogya - Borobudur - Dieng. That morning, I did enjoying Borobudur Sunrise package from Manohara Hotel and take my breakfast. The rent car's driver and his daughter accompanying him will returned to the parking area at 07:30. Once they arrived, I quickly get in the car and continue to next destination, which is Dieng highland in Wonosobo.

The road trip took 2.5 hours driving the inter-city road to reached the border of Wonosobo border to Dieng. We have to buy the ticket for entering tourism area. Then followed 45 minutes ascending road to reached Tieng (Dieng) Viewing Shelter. We stopped here for a while to buy water stock and went to toilet.

My first destination was Sikidang Crater. They named it Sikidang for Kidang (Deer) association due its location tends to changed over time. There was nothing mystically about it, because this area is a large crater indeed. From the cleavage of rocks I saw boiling water came out producing steams and sulphuric gases. In many places, the ground seems unstable that there may be crater beneath the ground we step that makes the ground vibrating. The largest pool located in the afar and contained boiling mud. Using polarized sunglasses, through the fog of steam it produced, I thought I saw a fire trails from the boiling mud that indicate the lava may be close from the surface.

I continued my trip to Telaga Warna (Colorful Lake). This lake has the colors gradation from white, green, blue, tosca, then brown as the base color of the lake's bed. The lake surface is covered by thin fog that indicated it was in elevated temperature. Aside this lake, there was dark brownish Lake Pengilon and a few short caves nearby that I didn't visit. There was the first time I met Gendot pepper (Local Habanero cultivated) and the midget papaya called Carica.

The next destination is Arjuna Temples. There are many tourism objects nearby like museum, theatre, and other temples, but the icon of Dieng is the Arjuna Temples. Yes, Temples, because there were some temples in this area in various condition, some were well preserved, some were in repair. The locals here told me that the temples were resemble the people's classification order.

It was around 13:30 so we decided to lunch at nearby lamb satay stall. The rich volcanic soil here made every crops turned to extra large size, for example the potatoes and local chili pepper I found in that satay stall. After lunch, we continued to Sileri Crater. This dormant crater once had killed many villagers nearby due to its explosion which releasing poisonous volcanic gases.

Then I continued to Jalatunda crater. This crater was also dormant volcanic crater which is deep so the local called it as a well, Jalatunda Well. There was a myth that if we successfuly throw hand sized rock to the crater wall beneath while saying our wish, to the area full of yellow flowers, within three opportunity, our wish might be granted by the ancients. I didn't believe the myth but it was hard work or I can say impossible to successfuly hit that wall by throwing it using bare hand.

The last destination here is Chandradimuka Crater. On the midway to the Crater, I saw hot spring waterfall from Chandradimuka water streams. These craters were seemed the most active crater around Dieng indicated by thick fog of steams and strong sulphuric odor that can make people fainted. There was a warning to put gas mask if we intended to walk downstair into the crater, but because I didn't prepare any, I stopped at the stair where the fences has ended.
